Our department's 3rd-year students, as part of the ORE 350 Paper Fabrication course, accompanied by their course instructor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezgin Koray Gülsoy, conducted a technical field trip to OYKA Paper Packaging Industry and Trade Inc., located in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak.

Thanks to this technical field trip, our students had the opportunity to reinforce the theoretical knowledge they gained in class with industrial applications. During the trip, the paper production process was examined on-site, from raw material preparation to the packaging of the final product. Detailed information was provided to our students, particularly regarding pulp preparation, addition of additives, beating (refining) of fibers, the transformation of fiber suspension into form in the paper machine, pressing and drying processes, as well as quality control and paper testing.

Such technical field trips are of great importance for our students in terms of gaining sectoral awareness, observing production processes on-site, integrating theoretical knowledge with practice, and contributing to their career planning.
